I feel for the reviewer. For nearly a century, script writers have messed around with perfectly good names and plot lines. The recent Louise Penny series is an example of what a mess can be made. Still, for those of us who are not readers of this series (I've read numerous books by Michael Connely but not this series) it works as a nicely crafted lawyer/police drama. It also has a resolution in the first regular episode. We don't have to wade through ten weeks to finally get some answers (although I don't know what's down the line). The sociopath who threatens Michael is a prototype but works well here. Elliot Gould is very good in his advlise and I appreciate that it was kept from us until after things were resolved. Of course, there is a good narrative hook to finish things off. I enjoyed this although I certainly sympathize with other criticism. Oh, and I don't think that the money in Connelly's wallet is in any danger of being depleted.
