6/10
As far as Fulci goes, this isn't that bad...

Before watching movies I often visit Wikipedia page of the movie to read a bit about it's production and critical reception naturally skipping the plot part. If you do too, I strongly advise you to skip it for this one, since the page contains spoiler in the form of a quote by Lucio Fulci. That being said, even though I knew who the killer was and even though I knew whose movie was I about to watch, I was pleasantly surprised. Music in the movie is good, story, while nothing new or spectacular is decent and there is even one really cool scene where at the funeral of Giorgio Mainardi every important characters comes to his coffin and we get a retrospective story about their relationship giving us the viewers a potential motive for almost every on of them and all that accompanied by a good music. Bettina Giovannini and Karina Huff show us some nudity which is beautiful. On the other hand, Fulci as always can't help himself and even adds zombies in one nightmare scene and the movie as a whole contains some unnecessary (although typical for him) violence which tries to be shocking, but fails. Acting ranges from decent to melodramatic. As Fulci himself said, it's easy to spot the killer and deduce who has the motives for murder. We also don't really care about it all, because Giorgio Mainardi wasn't a good man at all. All in all, "Voices from Beyond" or "Voci dal profondo" isn't that bad and is certainly better than Fulci's usual offering, but it's just a mediocre and forgettable movie at best. I give it 6/10 I recommend it only to Fulci's fans, the rest can safely avoid it...
