Review of Shameless

Shameless (2011–2021)

A journey we get to ride along with.

From beginning to end I created a connection with the characters. The way we really grow up with them and form a bond is just unreal. At the last episode I came to the realisation how big everyone has gotten during this series. The problems everyone had to face and how they overcame it. Every season had its characters, ups and downs en that's what I loved about it. The directors weren't scared to drag storylines or completely destroy what could have been good for a character. But that's how real life works. Of course, some things are a little unrealistic but who cares. I watched every episode back to back until season 9. When Fiona left I really had to get used to it. Just her vibrance, personality and chaotic life. I really missed it. Throughout the series Debbie got on my nerves more and more but I guess that's the point. About Frank, during the last season I was a little sad for him. But that didn't make up for the fact that we was a horrible person. Sometimes I felt really uncomfortable with the way he was treating his kids. It was so confronting I guess. At the end of the day this series really gave me comfort in a way. Just a reminder that there's always people that have more problems to face. I would recommend this series to everyone. The way it takes you along on it's journey and gives you the freedom to form your own connection and opinions on the characters. It's a perfect mix of comedy, drama and just a tad of sitcom vibes. The reality of it all. In most movies/series the protagonist lives in this big fancy house. But Shameless shows the reality of living in the South. Meeting ends, having two jobs, and in between definitely having no time to keep the house perfectly clean. They just live. And I think the beauty of it, is that we get to ride along with them.
