This, the final Pepe short, is one of the ones I Iike best. Definitely not as superlative as the Oscar-winning "For Scent-imental Reasons"; nor as classy as "Past Perfume-ance", "Wild Over You", or "Little Beau Pepe". But qualitatively, it's not one which anyone would name as one of the outstanding ones. These people seem mainly a bit embarrassed by it, the final two-thirds or so taken up by the climactic faked-death scene and the punch line--one of the all-time classic lessons in stretching out a film. I conclude that this provides me with perverse attraction; I really don't consider it a "guilty pleasure". It's one of the few I enjoy repeatedly.
