This is part of a strand series called. A Ghost Story For Christmas. It's a wonderful adaptation of an M. R James story. The movie managed to capture the eerie atmosphere, the creepily cheerful older cousin, the old manor house filled with shadows and secrets. An innocent child and two very unsettling ghost children.
This is a must for those who love a scary story well told, the acting is spot on, especially from the kids which is a bonus as many British television films of the time didn't seem to be able to find kids with acting talent.
This film manages to ramp up the tension without too many jump scares. Instead it manages to give the viewer a sense of unease, that something is off, even before the appearance of the ghostly children. I really enjoy these old movies and this was one of the best,
