an exploration of a genre
30 May 2023
/generation loss: the social experiments is a horror-comedy, so i advise you to go in, expecting a laugh and an occasional eerie feeling. Taking inspiration from many known and loved horror media from throughout the years, it is sure to be entertaining to both horror fanatics and, anyone, really, with how clear this series manages to explain its ways of working and plot. A great exploration of meta horror/ fourth wall breaks by taking advantage of the live streaming of the show. A few moments fall flat, caused by its interactive nature, but it is clear the actors stay in character- even if you don't realize it at first. I'm sure fans might experience some additional emotions from seeing their favorite streamers on the screen, but i can't name a single character that felt like a bad self insert or that had mediocre acting. It is very clear many people have put their love and passion into this project. I highly recommend anyone to watch the last episode (plus the last 11 minutes of episode 2) if the comedy/ improv style of the first 2 episodes doesn't entertain you. The emotions felt from the last episode alone are something i have never experienced from a show before.
