Spanish/Italian/French co-production in which our brave agent Lang Jeffries has to recover an important dossier
17 May 2023
This Spanish/Italian James Bond clone deals with a dossier capable of blackmailing the leader of a country friendly to the U. S. disappears, and a American agent (Lang Jeffries) is sent out to find its whereabouts before it ends up in the hands of enemies. The valiant agent hast to go Casablanca to take the essential dossier . Along the way , an ominous killer (Paco Morán) with a mechanical hand capable of killing people with electrocution.

Ordinary Euro-spy movie with usual components : pursuits , crashes , struggles , chases , fantastic gadgets , strange artifacts , international conspiracy , and explosive women . In addition , I found it more entertaining than the ordinary Eurospy movie with its ups and downs . Stars clean-cut American Lang Jeffries , making a beeline for the usual mid-1960s mash-up of girls, guns and a couple of low-budget gadgets . This Spanish-French and Italian co-production was directed by Tulio Demicheli, with the latter on script duties along with three other writers, including Juan Gallardo Muñoz, Fulvio Gicca Palli and Vittoriano Petrilli. It borrows heavily from the OO7 series that at the time starred Sean Connery , such as : Dr No, From Russia with love , Thunderball, and Goldfinger . It has some flaws and gaps , as it does tend to get a bit old , including repetitive nature of some fight scenes , but it has big fun , so it cares . Lang Jeffries gives a passable acting as a good-looking playboy/secret agent who takes on a criminal organization that especializes in assassinations . As usual, the movie is fairly confusing during the first half, but it works itself up to some fun plot twists , betrayals , crosses and double-crosses before it's all through .

Lang has an easy going air about him that makes him great to see. ¨Our agent in Casablanca¨ results to be a passable Eurospy film with acceptable production , adequate cinematography by Angelo Liotti , ordinary players and catching musical score by Giovanni Fusco . Lang was a Canadian actor who emigrated to Italy to get fame and fortune , he married Rhonda Fleming , and obtaining success in Spaghetti Western : Requiem for the Gringo ; Eurospy : Agente X 1-7 operazione Oceano, Z7 Operation Rembrandt ...4 ..3 ..2 ..1 ...morte , The Becket case and Peplum : Alone Against Rome , Fire over Rome, Sword of the empire , Revolt of the Slaves . In fact , according to the "Revolt of the Slaves" pressbook, Jeffries served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was one of only three survivors out of 177 soldiers in his unit who landed at Inchon in the fall of 1951. Co-stars beautiful Eurotrash starletts such as Olga Omar , Thea Fleming, Barbara Nelli and Sara Guash. It's main plus is that it has a particularly memorable nasty : Paco Morán as a villain whose hand has been replaced by a steel one finds that his new hand has the ability to retain enough electricity so he can kill his enemy , a story element that also adds some science fiction content to make the movie qualify for this Euro-spy series. Along with other ordinary secondaries , usual in Euro-spy , thriller , Spaghetti and Peplum , such as : Pier Paolo Capponi , Rubén Rojo , José María Caffarel , among others.

This is one of the uncountable stories that the Italian producer pioneers were joined by Spanish producers , who established around Rome or Madrid , especially to shoot the exteriors , a new stable center for filming Euro-spy movies or Spaghetti Westerns . The Argentinian , nationalized Spanish writer/filmmaker Tulio Demicheli so consistently mixed the good with the mediocre that it became quite impossible to know what to expect from him next . He directed Paella Westerns such as ¨Tequila¨, ¨1 , 2, 3 Dispara otra Vez¨, ¨Un Hombre Un colt¨ and ¨Gunmen of Rio Bravo¨. Demicheli had a long , prolific career , working from the 40s , he directed all kind of genres as drama as ¨Herida Luminosa¨ ; Horror as ¨Monstruos De Terror¨ or ¨Assignment Terror" ; adventures as ¨Son of Captain Blood¨, ¨First adventure¨ ; Giallo as ¨Coartada en Disco Rojo or ¨Two faces or fear¨, and , Spy sub-genre as ¨¨Il Nostro Agente a Casablanca¨, ¨Dirty game in Panama¨, ¨Espionage in Lisboa¨ with Brett Hasley and a crime triller : ¨Ricco¨ with Chris Mitchum , a movie that takes the crime vengeance genre into very gory territory . His best movie was ¨Carmen of Ronda¨ with Sara Montiel . It's not the most exciting spy movie you've ever seen, but if you're attempting to see as many of these movies as you can, it has its charms. All in all, I found this one acceptably entertaining. Rating : 6 .
