This episode starts interesting enough with Spider-Man being accused of three robberies. Peter Parker/Spider-Man, knowing he's being framed, wants to set out to get revenge on the unknown villain... but then completely drops the case when Aunt May reminds him that they made a date with Betty Brant to go to the carnival.
Coincidentally, this leads Peter directly to the man who framed Spidey for the robberies: A villain called the Ringmaster who is... sort of an evil circus director? Or a gangleader with a circus theme going on? It's not made entirely clear and the Ringmaster and his Circus of Crime (consisting of Bruto the Strong Man, the Human Cannonball and acrobat twins called the Great Gambonnos) are not particular interesting villains.
