(1954) Apache WESTERN BIOGRAPHICAL

Although, I've often heard of the "Geronimo" name, I've never came across a well beloved movie about him even though there's many movies made about him. I've always come across great movies made about other people such as General Custer of "They Died With There Boots On", Wong Fei Hong played both by Jackie Chan and Jet Lee and Toshiro Mifune as Miyamoto Musashi all labelled as great films, but never about the legendary American Native Geronimo. Actor veteran Burt Lancaster starring as "Geronimo" the last American Apache who defied English traditions or abide to American rules after the civil war. He's then convinced to grow corn in way to work together but of course their are obstacles such as racist cowboys. I had many opportunities to watch this but assumed their was going to be a bad ending since the movie was about Geronimo but was quite relieved that it wasn't. And I don't quite know what the fuss was all about since Caucasians play Native American characters all the time as well as Chinese characters. Lancaster is a great actor and the movie doesn't degrade nor dehumanize the character he portrays what more do viewers want for it's very respectable showing actual American Indians as well as fake looking ones.
