The whole season has been a huge disappointment, and this finale leads the rush to the bottom. Terrible basis for the episode, with Abby's desperately pushed prosecution even more ridiculous than what's come before.
With Dan going to the bench in Louisiana, there are two possibilities: he's out of the series, which would be a shame, since he's the best source of laughs and grudgingly-revealed character. The other is that Season 2 will split time between the two venues. Since the writers can't sustain one sitcom scenario any better than this, how the heck could they expect to properly feed two?
The original Night Court went through a few cast changes before hitting its stride. Follow that example, producers. You can do better. We hope.
