A Cinderella story
1 May 2023
This humble movie explains a simple beautiful story mostly effective due to miss Lansbury merits: an English charwoman sees one of her clients' Dior gowns and immediately falls in love with it, deciding from then on to save every penny to achieve her dream. Her determination and strong will will make the dream come true. Miss Lansbury performance is what instills life to an apparently simple character and she does it beatifully. Like a modern cinderella, miss Harris will go after a dream and will know friendly lovable characters along the way.

Based on Paul Gallico (Poseidon adventure and Lili writer) book titled Flowers for mrs. Harris this light hearted cinderella story is full of nice characters and transmits good feelings. Omar Sharif plays the marquis and Diana Rigg plays the sales chief of house of Dior. The script changes the novel's ending for good to a more Hollywood style one.

Fashion designer Jane Robinson made the marvelous Dior-like dress that gave her an award and she certainly did a good job...it is simply wonderful and fits miss. Lansbury beautifully.

As a curiosity, there is a German series starring Inge Meysel that adapts the four mrs. Harris books.
