The film was interesting. I really liked the father daughter relationship and how Otto's character slowly develops. The flashback gimmick is a little overplayed but it's fine, it needed it's average move runtime i guess.
I did not like that they moved away from the original and made Malcolm trans instead of gay. Maybe it's cause hormone blockers are made in the US and they needed some marketing. I mean that's the only way those businesses can stay afloat. Surgeons make so much money off of people's insecurities and low self-esteem.
Frankly, I believe Otto is the type of guy that would find transitioning to be idiotic. He enjoys knowing how things work and he wasn't able to have children with his late wife because of an accident. I don't think he'd be in agreement with people transitioning, mutilating of one's body and make complications when birthing a child.
Overall it was okay. I'd rather watch the original though.
