This was a neat little episode. It's really similar to how the third episode played out, a side story that is confined within an episode. We get some needed backstory from Ellie and it's pretty much a "how she ended up here" type scenario.
This episode is entirely focused on her relationship with her friend Riley and the ups and downs they go through in only a matter of hours. I think it was a good episode in terms of fleshing out her story. We did get Joel's backstory in the first episode so it was nice to see that happen with Ellie here. It actually makes the conversation they had in the previous episode, talking about loss much more impactful.
Overall, a solid episode. Doesn't quite make as big of an impact to the main story but still provides some much needed background to one of the characters.
