The Simpsons: Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder (1999)
Season 11, Episode 6

Warning: Spoilers
A quite moving episode of The Simpsons that has two acts. The first where Homer achieves his 15 minutes of fame and what he thinks is his true purpose in life. The reference to The Natural would have made Robert Redford rather chuffed and proud, and we learn that Lenny has a special place in the hearts of Marge, Bart and Lisa.

Ron Howard's cameo is hilariously true, and is Penn and Teller as they make their debut in The Simpsons.

The second half is when Homer learns to connect with Maggie, and the final scene where they're bowling, and the balloon rises in the background is one for the ages. Even though this is officially outside The Golden Era (the first 10 seasons), I still count this as a Golden Era episode.
