Scream VI (2023)
7/10
First 70% was amazing, the last 30% lost steam

Warning: Spoilers
The intro and first couple kills were absolutely amazing! The tone was perfectly dark and gritty which is excellent for New York. But then when we got to the scene at Gails and she didn't end up getting killed I was a little bummed as I thought that would have been cool way for her to go out. But hey, they have to have some survivors, right? But then again on the train, again at the theater, ect, ect too many people were surviving in the final act. Come to think of it, the last 4 'victims' all survived. Just seemed like too low of steaks for a final act of a horror movie. Then when if came to the reveal, I didn't mind that they paid homage to Scream 2 with family of the original killer, but did they have to be so darn goofy and campy? The 'you have to let go' felt forced, the fights were just silly and all the high steaks, again, just vanished. It was probably the first time I was rooting for the heroin to get killed because of how goofy they and the ghostfaces were at the end. As someone who enjoys high drama and death totals in a horror movie, it just felt like a let down after a such strong start. To fix it they needed one of the 2 legacy survivors to die and one of the 2 new characters who survived to die, along with villains who didn't act so campy and it would have been perfect.

Also, don't get me started on the weird acting choices from the older sisters boy toy 😅
