Legacy ruined

Most reviews here are mixed but the ratings are high, which I don't understand. For me, this series ruined completely the Bosch character who had a gritty realism and integrity as a reluctant cop but now is just a weird private dick working for dying billionaires the way Philip Marlowe did. Don't get me wrong, I love Marlowe, but Bosch just ain't him and his LA is not the LA of the 40s, with dames and gangsters.

Besides, Bosch without the cool house on the hills loses even more points. Not only that, but even Money Chandler doesn't work in her slick office anymore, but in what looks like the back office of a dingy pop and mum firm. Don't even get me started with "boot" Maddie... and what happened to her cool, neonatal surgeon, politically correct Latino boyfriend? At least he was easy on the eye.

The plot of this series is a jumble sale of cliches, tied together by evil white males (is there any other type?) and good every other ethnicity. Turns out, the only decent white male in LA is Bosch. A quick count sees the following underdeveloped plots: Dr. Basu (probably killed by a white male colleague); the Russian mafia guys convenient killing Chandler's nemesis; a white rapist; a dying billionaire with a Latino grand-daughter and evil corporate white men conspiring to get her killed; police corruption in pursuing a non-white criminal and girlfriend and covering up a possible mess. To be noted, the "innocent girlfriend" only wanted to protect her fatherless son and to be a social worker - not a Youtuber or an actress, because that would not elicit enough sympathy, but a social worker...

Come to think of it, also the Latino heiress is a single mother... I guess the scriptwriters love single parents and again, Bosch is the only father figure around. Everybody else is fatherless or has a bad father.

A final note on the female assassin who looked like Maddie, like there weren't any other actresses around to play the part but a stick-thin redhead with a long ponytail and bony face.

I am so not interested in the next season despite this ridiculous ending. For me Bosch was over with the 7th series, this is just prolonging the agony.
