HOW TO MAKE SURE SOMEONE IS DEAD!
25 February 2023
You've come to the right place. The writers of MANNIX episodes were an inventive bunch. It makes a lot of sense here as the writer was Don Mullaly, who at the time was also working on IRONSIDE. Don wrote a total of 10 episodes. And didn't all us kids love this stuff!

Here, a close friend of Joe's goes sailing off the terrace of a high rise --however-- the twist is that the accused guy, Charlie Egan (well played by Jason Evers) hires him to prove the cops completely wrong.

Of course, Tobias (Robert Reed) is also on the case, cramping Joe's style. Egan claims a mysterious woman can prove him innocent. Carla Borelli plays Dallas King. Carla began her career as a model, which lead to many tv roles. At the time she appeared on IT TAKES A THIEF and THE NAME OF THE GAME. Watch her.

Also in the cast look for veteran Virginia Gregg (DRAGNET) as Liz. Reed was beginning his run on the BRADY BUNCH, but was always unhappy about his role, so he was given more air time on Mannix, which you will notice. You have to admit, it got confusing as Ward Wood would alternate with Reed as the senior cop. There was only one episode where they both appeared together.

I so agree with the last reviewer, it's fun to watch these episodes, mainly for the cars and styles.

That was the object back in the day too, especially to note the nice outfits Gail Fisher wore.

By the way, the familiar Los Feliz Towers is front and center here. The Towers were only a few miles from Paramount so they must have had an agreement with the owners as it would be used again, and truly is a beautiful place. Today you can buy an apartment/condo there, 1 bed, 1 bath for a cool million dollars! That's all!

Some neat spills and thrills for late night viewing. SEASON 3 EPISODE 2 remastered CBS dvd box set.
