So, 2023 doesn't seem to be off to a good start with Horrors so far. We're nearly at the end of January & already there's been 2 Horrors now that haven't sufficed.
The film sees a couple who want to start a family, move to rural Ireland after an intrusion they suffered in London. They meet with the locals in Ireland & get themselves a small cottage out in the country. However, there's a dark, yet creepy superstition they get presented with from a local woman involving Leprechauns.
I found the film to be pretty bad to be honest. There's not exactly a plot to speak of never mind a twist. The film seems to get nowhere & has annoying characters. I noticed a lot of the male characters were portrayed as dumb, stupid or evil. The gore was good as with some of the action. But the fantasy & comedy elements ruined it for me & made it difficult to take seriously as a so called "Horror" Film. The pacing is off too with an ok runtime of 1 hour & 38 minutes & with a questionable ending that done nothing whatsoever.
Overall, it's poor & not the greatest start to 2023 in terms of Horrors. The story is little to non existent, the fantasy/comedy elements ruined it, the film is a little long for what it is with a slightly long runtime of 98 minutes & the portrayal of the male characters was bad.
