Warning: Spoilers
"Six Years Gone" is an intense drama about a mother whose child is abducted. Six years pass, and the life of the mom, Carrie Dawson, is imploding. But she never gives up the struggle to discover the truth about her daughter.

The performance of the actress playing Carrie was exemplary. But it was a stretch to believe that Carrie would withhold information from the police and pursue the criminals who abducted her daughter on her own.

Carrie apparently gives $5,000 to Karl and Sav, the most untrustworthy men imaginable to lead her to her daughter's abductor. She then apparently gives $25,000 to the ringleader of the human trafficking ring. It was a stupendous error in judgment to trust that any of these criminals would be negotiating in good faith. The $30,000 was the sum total of Carrie's assets, which were given to her by her kind mother.

The plotting was clumsy, and it was never revealed what the daughter's life was like during her six years in captivity. Despite the good intentions of the filmmakers, the result was an uneven and grossly over-rated independent film.
