Conversation between Clare and Catherine was actually two approaches that exist in different fields, confronting evil. Clare imagines a future that is peaceful and free from the effects of evil on the existence of humanity. In fact, she seeks to justify evil, but from a different perspective and Indefensible. Catherine, however, is more pragmatic, this is because of her job and the events that have been imposed on her in dealing with evil, she imagines a world where evil prevails and by then it is too late. I think the series written by Sally Wainwright created a stir and at least this sequence was important. The compromise modern European view against the more pragmatic realist Europe that has the experience of seeing evil.
