Ornithologists state that "there is no consistent distinction . . . "
1 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
" . . . Between a 'crow' and a 'raven'." Therefore, even if nine of ten PINK ON THE COB viewers THINK that the corn-munching birds are crows, it is equally correct to characterize them as ravens, or even rooks, for that matter. Not content with filching all of the corn, crow fanciers would like to hog all the publicity puffing up these Public Enemies. However, Progressive high school drama departments are as apt to team the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion with a Scare-Raven as with a Scarecrow when they stage THE WIZARD OF OZ nowadays. So next time you feel like forcing your friend who predicted an all Big Ten final for the 2023 Bowl Championship Game to "eat crow," don't be surprised at the comeback that replay officials rooked Michigan and Ohio State in what is obviously the biggest sports scandal since the Black Socks more than a century ago. Are Heckle and Jekyll doing a sequel, then, to PINK ON THE COB? Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."
