Glenn Close makes her final appearance in Mona Leaves-a, a moving episode where Mona dies (most likely of old age really), and Homer understandably takes it very hard, especially with his negative attitude to Mona when she visits the Simpsons.
The second half had a James Bond feel to it, sort of from the 60s and 70s era with missiles and taking over the world.
Even though Mona Leaves-a falls well outside the golden era of The Simpsons (in my humble opinion the first 10 seasons), it's still one to tug the heartstrings and remember fondly our moms.
The episode is dedicated to the memories of Elsie Castellaneta (Dan Castellaneta's mom) and Dora K. Warren (Harry Shearer's mom).
