What a blast!

Alright, let's get some stuff straight.

Yes, the humans handle it really stupidly by refusing to acknowledge that they're dealing with a troll, even though trolls are a solid part of Scandinavian folklore. That's just moronic.

Yes, the military are always stupid drones.

Yes, politicians always act too strongly about stuff they don't understand, and don't wish to learn about. "It's big and scary, so it's an enemy and we should kill it".

Yes, it's weird that Sigrid can hack a 5th generation fighter jet, but hacking a phone is almost impossible.

Buuuuuut...

I love movies where giant creatures slap the living hell out of humanity. Even better when it's Scandinavian giant creatures, as I'm danish and we have such a rich culture and folklore in our small part of the world. We were once connected with nature on a deep level, so sometime it's nice to be reminded of that, when the troll king is smashing Oslo to bits.

I love that they tip the hat to movies like Trolljegeren, Jurassic Park and Godzilla.

I love that Nora understands the troll king. She sees that he's not a thoughtless killer, but a lonely troll who lost everyone he loved. He proves it by saving the kid Viktor in the amusement park. He doesn't want to kill, but if you dangle church bells around him, you're asking for it.

I love that the troll hates christianity. It fits folklore and christians did come here and wrecked havoc, so... don't mess with the troll king.

I love that I felt so sorry for the troll king. So much, in fact, that I got emotional at the end. Humans take everything for granted, because we kill everything that's in our way, and when there were no giant animals left to conquer, we started killing our selves.

Oh man, what a complete blast it was to watch this movie. I enjoyed it all, even the silly human stuff.

I love this movie!
