This movie portrays the heroic efforts of a Hawaiian family to stay together in the late 19th century. Their courageous response to the injustice they experienced is truly moving. Their courage is coupled with a sense of aloha which guides their actions. This movie does not follow a formula. It is deeply authentic and wonderfully redemptive. The use of ancient Hawaiian in the dialogue (with English subtitles) adds a remarkable sense of authenticity.
