"Something might happen. Something terrible."

Warning: Spoilers
There is a lot of plot in this film with people coming and going in a dark-ish old house and I think I just about understood what it was all about and who and why the murderer did what they did but in any case it was entertaining, mainly due to Joan Blondell in the lead as nurse Adams, the 'Miss Pinkerton' of the title. She is bright and sassy and most attractive, making her co-lead George Brent as Police Inspector Patten seem quite colourless in comparison. Among the supporting cast I liked Blanche Friderici as the dour servant Mary with the piercing look, Holmes Herbert as the duplicitous lawyer Arthur Glenn and Elizabeth Patterson as the ancient Juliet Mitchell. A good watch particularly for the excellent Ms. Blondell.
