Religion is nonsense - the movie
18 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
An incredibly slow burning film, about an English nurse tasked with monitoring an Irish girl; believed to be a saint, as she has not eaten for four months.

The village, and her family, believes her to be a miracle, and thus do not feed the child, as to them she is touched by God. Our nurse, played by Pugh, is solid in her role, and plays the battle of not only encouraging the girl to eat, but to explain to the family, and village, that she is dying.

That is pretty much it. Very little happens, aside what I've described, until a relatively satisfying ending.

To me, this is a film reminding us to focus on the present, not the concept of heaven. Ultimately, how faith, religion, is nonsense.

Honestly, I don't recommend. I wonder what the purpose of this film is? Who is made for? Who reads the synopsis thinking, yes, I want a bleak film about a girl who won't eat and her manically Christian family.
