From what I saw of the pilot episode...

The hate the show is getting, is uncalled for. I would go as far as saying that it was pretty ahead of its time. The tone was very aggressive sometimes, and some of the dialogues were unbelievably blunt. But it was just the show finding its pace. I appreciated the irony of the situation, when the leads sometimes indulged in victimization speech. But I guess it didn't, and still don't sit well with viewers who think there's such a thing as « white privilege », therefore assuming these characters have NO reasons to complain about ANYTHING whatsoever... Fortunately, and unlike what we see in shows these days, these kinds of silly remarks, were swiftly debunked and not to be mentioned again. I also thought it looked a awful lot like most popular shows of that time, and future ones even. So maybe viewers judged, it was too much of the same thing, at the same time? In all objectivity, I would hardly call this pilot episode « bad », it was strangely similar to future popular series, like Grey's Anatomy and other workplace dramas, involving young professionals learning in the field, and the lead characters looked interesting enough to get « their » own show on air.
