This is an outstanding, basically perfect documentary of the events, with background of the programs leading to Apollo and earlier flights. You'll see the real Gene Kranz, and then cringe if you ever see Ed Harris, in the Ron Howard melodrama, embassingly ill-equipped to convey anything close to the real person.
This great - from PBS Nova when they didn't dumb things down in their programs. Contemporaneous footage, mostly from the flight control room at the time of the event, is mixed with mosern-day narration & reflection from the people who were there - on Apollo 13, in the control room and elsewhere. No dramatization needs to be added.
Knowing the outcome does not lessen the tension.
