There are a few things going well here. The soundtrack stands out as being one of the best in a Franco film. The lead is captivating and easy to watch (even thought she's not given much to do). And the gothic setting, use of color, and cinematography are beautiful (except some of the night scenes which are too dark).
However, despite all that, this film is a snoozer. There is very little plot. There are gratuitous sex scenes that add nothing to the story. There are gratuitous wandering through the mansion scenes, wandering through the forest scenes, and wandering around and it was just a dream scenes. It just doesn't add up to anything, and it takes forever. It's a shame cuz some of these scenes are gorgeous.
