Review of Wromance

Welcome to Wrexham: Wromance (2022)
Season 1, Episode 17
6/10
Great show, weakest episode
13 October 2022
I'm a fan of this show and have thoroughly enjoyed it. There were always going to be weaker episodes and this was likely to be one of the them, however it was most hampered by a third of it featuring a woman explaining to us what "bromances" are and how and why they exist and and trying to explain platonic relationships between men.

They had plenty of footage of Rob and Ryan and male Wrexham fans, fathers and sons, and many of them discussing their father-son relationships, including the aforementioned (human) stars of this show. I think these clips were more than enough for the topic of this episode, they could easily have done a better job in their own right discussing it and helping the viewer understand and see the emotion involved. And there was some good emotion to be seen in the clips of them together, and in seeing all of them discuss it and the emotion you could often hear in their voices and see in their eyes.

That is all the episode needed to be after choosing the topic, instead it is constantly jarringly interrupted by a woman womansplaining (yea I know sorry for the term but it seems most appropriate) platonic relationships between males. It ruined the flow of the episode and comes across rather patronizing. I think it is understandable that this should be the shortest episode of the season.

Just to be clear, I don't think it would be any more appropriate to have a man explaining relationships between females, or what it is like to be pregnant or give birth, particularly when it harms the flow and emotion that can otherwise be seen in the episode as was the case here.
