I originally watched Breaking Bad about 8-9 years ago. Saul Goodman was one of my favourite characters in the show: funny, arrogant, theatrical, slimy and superbly played by Bob Odenkirk.
When his character got its own spin-off, Better Call Saul, I watched that show and found it great, though not quite as good as Breaking Bad. Now that that show has ended I am rewatching Breaking Bad, to see how things fit together and to watch the original after the prequel.
And this is where it all started. Season 2 Episode 8 is where we meet Saul Goodman for the first time and his effect is telling and immediate. His introduction also eventually leads us to meeting other characters who will have a profound effect on the course of the show.
Not just excellent because of the long-term effect but this is an excellent episode, full stop. Bob Odenkirk is in superb form here and Saul Goodman steals the show.
