Romance movies are a "once in a while" guilty pleasure of mine, and I don't expect Oscar material when I watch one. I do however expect relatable characters, passion and chemistry, and if I'm lucky, some above average acting and maybe a few twists that makes it stand out from your average Hallmark cliche.

Sadly this one lacks all these things, and I'm not comparing it to really great movies, but to movies of the same kind. And this is bad, even for a romance movie.

The acting is mediocre for the most part, although the Mother wasn't too bad, but the reviewer who compared her to Sally Fields, shouldn't be allowed to write reviews lol. And while predictability is pretty much mandatory in these stories, it can be done a lot more interesting than here. There's no visible chemistry, and the actors are left with doing what the script tells them and say their lines like they read them from a teleprompter.

The feeble attempt to create a bit of drama by bringing in her ex-boyfriend and his current flame falls flat because nobody seems able to drum up the tension that's needed. And the mother's long lost boyfriend magically appearing at the end is so cheesy that it defies belief.

Even Netflix have done better than this sometimes. Waste of time and money.
