I loved this movie!
7 August 2022
Just the thing to take my mind off the headlines in the newspaper, the always horrific news on TV, the drudgery of everyday working life and the violence that is everywhere. Sure, it is cliched, but the cast was attractive and invested in the story, great production values, and the problems encountered by the two leads only too true IRL. Tell me I am wrong! I am surrounded by Southeast Asians who will attest to the pressure from their parents to marry and marry well, and of course they must all be smart, well educated and successful.

I confess to having a crush on Suraj since God Friended Me. No problem at all to watch him for a couple of hours. This movie reminded me of one of my favorite movies of all time, Mira Nair's Monsoon Wedding. It doesn't address the social issues of that film, and is on a much smaller scale, but for someone like me, a white Southern-raised woman, the pageantry and drama of Indian weddings are endlessly fascinating and entertaining. I would recommend this film to those who just want to take a break from the chaos that surrounds us. No foul language, no car chases, no guns, no exploding heads - ahhhh, what a relief. There are far worse ways to spend a couple of hours, as others here have said.
