We watched this at home on DVD from our public library. Because it is a 2009 movie it runs 95 minutes. More recent Hallmark movies run 84 minutes. The difference? Now they are putting in more commercials during the 2-hour telecast. Interesting commercialism.
The story is about a nice Kansas family on a farm. The dad is a Vietnam veteran, was badly wounded and his dog was lost. He never overcame the loss and adopted an attitude that it is better to never have a pet dog than to lose one.
His youngest son, now 20, is developmentally challenged and living at home. When the Son learns of a local program at the animal shelter to adopt a dog for a few days, just over the Christmas holidays, he convinces a very reluctant dad to bring home the newest addition, a dog called Christmas. But only for a temporary stay, assured dad!
Anyway being a Hallmark movie we know how it will really turn out. Good choice of actors for the prime roles, we enjoyed the Christmas themed movie is hot June.
