Grey's Anatomy (and most other medical dramas) reflect the issues of the day and cutting edge medical procedures. This includes psychology. The current prevailing medical wisdom is that very young children should be allowed to express their gender perception. Whether you agree with this or not is kind of irrelevant. Also it was kind of interesting to see the discussion between the parents, the mother does not agree with the father's position but they are seeking counseling which is realistic and encouraging. People
are allowed to have differing opinions and can respect one another and work towards a compromise.
That having been said; I miss the good old days when this show was silly fun. But I guess this bad old world is just too serious.
