In the early 1930s, Ray Cooke made a string of about a dozen comedy shorts featuring the character 'Torchy'. Torchy is a real go-getter...an office boy who is eager to make good and impress his boss.
In "Torchy's Two Toots", you won't find the same sort of coherent plot you'll see in most of the other shorts. Instead, it's more a slice of life...what happens during a short period in Torchy's work week. The first involves the boss getting angry and firing Torchy and his boss (Franklin Pangborn), but he soon rehires them due to a misunderstanding. Then, near the end, the boss is in a pickle...and the boss' daughter and Torchy rush to the scene to save the day.
I didn't see too many laughs in this one and with a very weak plot, I'd say it's probably among the worst of the Torchy films. Not terrible...but it should have been a lot better.
