Review of I Lost My Body

5/10
Room for interpretation but also for sleep
13 March 2022
Yeah, this movie definitely leaves quite some room for interpretation but can also be a snoozefest.

I watched it with a friend and could surely not have managed to watch it alone. The story is simple but can be powerful: A boy has almost lost it all and is living quite a difficult life. To top it all off, he loses his hand and half the movie follows a hand crawling his way back to his original owner. This has some metaphorical interpretations, sure.

The scene when he was about to lose his hand was well done but quite torturous. Just lose your freaking hand! And the music is really good.

I get that the movie leaves a lot of space for metaphorical interpretation, from the hand showing the helplessness of our protagonist to the idea that even with great loss, a lot of dreams are still possible.

Some people probably like this kind of stuff but I honestly was quite bored the entire movie. Metaphorical prowess, yes, but entertainment value, no.
