For a final episode of a highly-regarded series, this episode didn't tie any ends, didn't explain anything, didn't answer any questions, just gave us a long drawn out scene of the entire cast having a reunion and cry at each other and people call it a masterpiece because of an actor cries on TV people automatically think it's the best work of art humanity has ever come up with. Basically the writers painted themselves into a corner and they had to make up a ridiculous ending like this.
Oh well, at least they didn't go the usual route of "it was all a dream after all" like a lot of movies do these days.
