Dreadful indie
24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't be fooled like I was into thinking British comedy/horror PAINTBALL MASSACRE (2020) is going to be a throwback to solid low-budget fare of the 2000s like SEVERANCE, DOG HOUSE or WILDERNESS. This turns out to be a cheap and unconvincing indie drama in which most of the budget seems to have been spent on hiring comedienne Katy Brand and Lee from Steps as the "big name" draws (!). The story involves a high school reunion at a paintball game turning murderous; those expecting bloody mayhem will be disappointed with the pitiful CGI-enhanced gore effects, while the characters are horribly irritating throughout. One to avoid!
