I truly do not understand the negative reviews from both fans and critics regarding this movie. It is absolutely beautiful and it is a tragedy that it did not get the attention that it deserves.
Andrew Garfield completely transformed into Robin Cavendish and should have at the very least been nominated for many awards. His ability to not move his body, to be so expressive in his face, his speech pattern...come on!
Many reviews say that this movie stayed surface...stayed too positive...didn't dive into many issues that the couple faced. But it did. I think people that say this are missing the point of the whole movie, which was this couple's tenacity, love, and desire to live a full life as unhindered as possible. They didn't mope around. They didn't accept defeat. And the movie reflects that. I was a bawling mess throughout the whole movie and can't imagine how much sadder it would have made me if the movie didn't take the approach it took...which by the way, was the true story.
I pray with all the love that Andrew Garfield is getting currently, that people discover this film and see the true masterpiece that it is.
