Better than I expected
31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For a 14 minute short film based on Iron Man 3 and focusing on the minor character Trevor Slattery, I wasn't expecting much. That film was one of the weaker Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, and that character was derided as a sideshow. Yet in hindsight, after seeing that Trevor Slattery was a highlight in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, I gave him another chance. In this short film, Trevor enters prison and is greeted by an adoring fanbase. He is interviewed by a documentary filmmaker who delves into Trevor's childhood, attitudes and acting work. A highlight was the cheesy 80s cop drama "Caged Heat". The filmmaker turns out to be from the real Ten Rings and a brief action scene ensues, which took away from the comedic tone and killed off Trevor's companion quite quickly. Near the end, we are re-introduced to Justin Hammer, but this took away from the main focus and was a waste of potential (it should have been integrated into the main plot better).
