Junior has a gambling addiction.

While the colors are very vivid and the look of this cartoon is quite pleasing, "Now That Summer Is Gone" suffers from an overdose of cuteness and schmaltzy singing....though at least it has a somewhat edgy story. It's about Junior, a squirrel who would rather spend his time gambling instead of stocking away acorns for the winter.

To combat the schmaltziness, there are some lovely scenes where Junior's dad knocks the snot out of the wayward squirrel. But this isn't edgy enough to negate the cutesy beginning...which worked okay in 1938 but which is pretty off-putting today.
