With its sweeping battle scenes and explosive relationships among ruling families of four kingdoms Jin, Bailan, Yan and Liang in ancient China, this reminds me of Game of Thrones. The love story of the main leads Chu Beijie (Wallace Chung) and Bai Pingting (Angelababy) is more tantalizing and satisfying so I like this better.
As with most Chinese dramas, this may drag at times, but the story, especially the ending, is worth your time. It took me a while to appreciate Angelababy's performance (she is too pretty to take seriously at first). Wallace Chung kept me going. What is it about him that just pulls viewers in?
