Station Eleven: A Hawk from a Handsaw (2021)
Season 1, Episode 2
9/10
A high frequency
24 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The series isn't special because of the story. It's a matter of execution. The direction and writing take creative risks that show what could be cliched or painful scenes in fresh and empathetic ways (ex: Kirsten finding out about her parents). The interconnectedness of the timelines does more than juxtapose before and after. It is an example of taking what could be a story gimmick and instead using the device to illuminate the humanity within the characters.

I have no idea where the story is going, but I'm not sure it matters. With such skilled creators operating at such a high frequency, I feel confident that whatever happens will be human and beautiful.
