Heartbreaking....

....in more than just the sense of two parents losing a son tragically. As one who has felt that pain in real life and remembering how difficult it was to recover from in a normal, earthbound setting, I don't know how anyone could do it with the additional stresses of a setting like this one. But I was lucky in that I had the support of all my friends and coworkers to help me through the most difficult part of it.

The folks at NASA (and his own wife) keeping Ed literally in the dark about Shane's death is, to me, unforgivable. I don't see this storyline going anywhere good for any of them. At least Karen bought a little redemption by finally telling him the truth before his relief arrived. But this will be a permanent rift between him and NASA. Has to be. I hope he doesn't look for comfort in that bottle he was chugging from. I know it's not there.

As soon as I can clear away tears to the point that I can once again see my TV screen, I'll look toward the next episode for a hint.
