Possibly the best threequel ever made
9 December 2021
As awesome as Fellowship and Two Towers were, people were a little cautious in entering this third and final installment of the trilogy. When they did, they got a movie that served not only as a satisfying conclusion to a beloved story, but a film that surpassed both the first and second films of the series. A perfect balance between story and action, and all the characters' storylines are completed with care. The emotional power is heightened and the film is so well made that even the most major mistakes feel ignorable. An interesting choice to sweep all 11 of its nominated Oscars, tying it for the most awarded film with Ben-Hur (1959) and Titanic (1997). The ending does drag a little, but it is highly rewarding where much of the emotional power delivers at its strongest.
