Rob Zombie retells the classic story of Michael Myers, a troubled young boy who killed several people on Halloween night as a child, was sent to an asylum, and escaped many years later on Halloween to terrorize the local babysitters.
The simplicity that made Carpenter's film so frightening is notably absent here and replaced with excessive gore and cliche ridden backstories that only serve to make Michael Myers less frightening. All the character development for Michael has given Zombie less time to develop his cast of victims which causes us to root for Michael over them by default.
