NCIS: My Other Left Foot (2004)
Season 1, Episode 12
6/10
Weak episode, weaker case.

Warning: Spoilers
It made for some entertainment, but ultimately, this was yet another weak episode. Its only saving grace was the characters. What kept me invested was the characters, their dynamics, and their interactions. I'd say that the comedic bits between Tony and Caitlin were among the best so far. Ducky's recollection story this time around was his best yet; the best part was the ultimate point of it being incorrect. The punchline of Gibbs highlighting that was great. All that buildup, only to break it all down with a simple sentence. Good writing.

Other things stood out; things that weren't as important but still noteworthy. Dean Norris had a small role in this episode. At first, I thought this was during his role in Breaking Bad. But this episode premiered a few years before Breaking Bad started, let alone airing. Still, I only knew who he was when he showed up because of what is likely his most known acting role: Hank Schrader.

Josh Holloway also played a small role in this episode. I'm sure loads of people immediately recognized him. Lost, anybody? I recognized him from that as well, although I haven't watched it yet. From what I have watched him in, I think I've known him because of Intelligence, a show that premiered in 2014, only lasting a season. It's probably hard not to know him from being in Lost, even if you haven't watched it. Interestingly enough, it premiered later in the year that this episode premiered. Little did he know he'd be in a show that probably cemented him in the minds of many.

As far as actors are concerned, it seemed like the acting by Stacy Haiduk as Melissa Dorn; and Bonnie Bartlett's acting as Dr. Sylvia Chalmers; was good. I mean, objectively. Maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but the acting by both of them certainly wasn't bad. Bonnie's acting seemed to stand out more, and I think it was good. Stacy's acting was good as well, just not to the extent of Bonnie's acting, but that may have more to do with the script they had to work with; Bonnie's character gave her more of an opportunity to shine. I didn't even consider her as a possible suspect: and the ultimate one in the end. Then again, that could be more because I wasn't that interested in the case and not because Bonnie's acting was good, although I'd say it's a bit of both.

All-in-all, there were quite a few things to note, but only two of them had important significance. The characters, their dynamics/interactions: being the highlight of the episode. And the acting by Stacy Haiduk and Bonnie Bartlett. Those two things were the biggest draw out of this episode. Without them, my rating would probably be lower. But still, either way, there's entertainment to be had from this episode, to be gleaned. Just not as much as I would've liked.
