6/10
This is a very average addition to the genre

Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins (2008) is a movie I recently watched on Netflix. The storyline follows a successful television host who returns home for the first time in a long time with his fiancée and son. He's always had resentment towards his family for several things which are about to come out during a series of family festivities. This movie is directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man) and stars Martin Lawrence (Bad Boys), James Earl Jones (Star Wars), Michael Clarke Duncan (Green Mile), Margaret Avery (The Color Purple), Joy Bryant (Honey), Cedric The Entertainer (Kings of Comedy), Mo'Nique (Precious) and Mike Epps (How High). This is an uneven comedy with some hits and misses. The storyline actually had some depth but was delivered just okay. Martin was fairly average in this but Duncan, Epps and Mo'Nique were awesome. I loved every scene they were in. It was great seeing them add James Earl Jones and Avery to this all star cast. I did like the ending and how it all came together; but overall, this is a very average addition to the genre. I'd score this a 5.5/10 and only recommend watching this if nothing better is available.
