Really special

Bored one day, came across this title and saw a few photos, thinking it was a silly sort of sitcom that I could get lost in. I had no idea it was a "reality" show. I was 10 minutes into the first episode when it all came to fruition. Fun, mindless, silly, talented. Well, as I kept watching the episodes, mindless change to mindful. What this small gem of a series is doing is unique and the timing could not be more perfect in the climate we live in. When they go to each town, they do not hide the ugliness of racism and homophobia, yet do not exaggerate it either. It is what it is. As a proud gay man who has worked been part of the LGBTQ community for many years in the past, this show even gives me pause - so thoughtful. Trite, but walk a mile in someone's shoes: pumps, heels, loafers who cares! The chosen guests are a wonderful kind of diverse which adds to my admiration. Maybe it's me, but I do well up a couple times each episode. I just finished the season 2 opener and loved what they did. The episode started taping last year when Covid hit. They had to shut down (which is part of the last year season finale), so it picks it up a year later. Well done. Watch more than one, and you may see what I see.
